The Atlanta Zoo offers its nightcrawlers programs throughout the year. It begins at 6 p.m. and concludes at 10:30 a.m. the next day every Tuesday through Saturday. The classes are geared to youngsters from first through 12th grade. The programs do require at least one adult chaperone per 10 students at a cost of $55 per participant. The chaperone gets in free, but additional chaperones do have to pay the cost of admission.

What happens during the different kids sleepover events does vary depending on the age group of the students involved. Some of the different programs offered include:

Animals in Motion – This program is designed for youngsters in grades one through two. It helps kids explore the different kinds of animals in the world and their preferred modes of transportation – flying, walking, swimming.

Panda Connections – For students in grades three through five, this program offers an extensive lesson on panda bears. During the kids sleepover event, young learners will find out more about this unique animal.

Backyard Georgia – Youngsters in grades three and four can learn more about their home state and how to keep it looking beautiful for the future.

Animal Trackers – Students in grades five and six have the opportunity to get hands-on with research tools that scientists use to study animals and their habitats. This program is a favorite for those who are interested not only in animals, but also science.

Biodiversity Explorers – Set for students in grades seven through nine, this program is designed to teach about the importance of biodiversity and its environmental implications.

Careers and Conservation – Older students in grades 10 through 12 can learn about the careers available to them in environmental institutions such as the Atlanta Zoo.

Finding fun things for kids to do in Atlanta is a whole lot easier than many think. An evening at the zoo is a great way to get out of Atlanta apartments and really see what goes bump in the Georgia night.

I was wondering when the next Panda Connections program is running? I would like to bring my daughter and her friend who are both 9 and in the fourth grade.
